PSWF-01 Wi-Fi power supply for electronic door lock

Open Your Main Gate Lock From Your Phone: Wi-Fi Power Supply Explained

Short answer: to open your main gate lock from your phone, the lock needs a Wi-Fi power supply between it and the mains. The PSWF-01 Wi-Fi lock supply (₹2,750, or ₹2,950 to ₹3,450 with 2 or 3 remotes) powers a 12 V electric rim lock or EM lock, connects to your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and lets you open the gate from the Smart Life app, by Alexa or Google Home, or by remote. If you have no electronic lock yet, a complete kit with the lock costs ₹3,450 to ₹5,499.

This guide explains what a Wi-Fi lock supply does, how to tell whether your existing lock can use one, how setup works, and which listing to buy. Prices are live website prices and include GST.

What is a Wi-Fi power supply for a door lock?

An electronic gate lock does nothing until something sends it a short burst of 12 V power. A normal lock supply does this when you press a remote or a push button. A Wi-Fi lock supply does the same job, but it also joins your home Wi-Fi, so the "button" can be your phone.

According to its listing, the PSWF-01 does four things in one box:

  • Powers the lock. It runs 12 V electric rim locks and EM locks.
  • Connects to the Smart Life app. On Android and iOS, over 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi, from anywhere with internet. It also works with Alexa and Google Home.
  • Takes remotes. Up to 20 compatible 433 MHz remotes, added with the ADD button on the supply.
  • Takes wired inputs. It has terminals for a push-button exit switch and for the lock output of a video door phone outdoor station.

You can share the lock with up to 15 family members in the app, so each person opens the gate from their own phone.

Can I add Wi-Fi to the electronic lock I already have?

Usually yes, if your lock is a 12 V electric rim lock or an EM lock, which is what the PSWF-01 listing says it powers. The main gate rim locks on our store, such as the RML-8K, run on 12 V DC, but check the label or manual of your lock before you buy. You then replace your old remote supply with the PSWF-01 and keep the lock on the gate as it is.

If your old supply also ran a door phone or an inside switch, the PSWF-01 has terminals for both, so you do not lose those. If your lock is a different voltage, or you are not sure, send a photo of the lock and its supply on WhatsApp before ordering.

How does setup work?

The listing gives the steps. A trained electrician should do the mains and lock wiring.

  1. Mount the supply indoors. Fix it on a dry wall inside the house, away from water. Only the lock goes on the gate.
  2. Wire the lock. Connect your 12 V rim lock or EM lock to the supply, and an exit switch or door phone output if you have one.
  3. Add it to Smart Life. In the app, tap Add device, press the WIFI button on the supply, select it and enter your Wi-Fi password.
  4. Set inching to 1 second. In the app, open Timer and keep Inching on at 1 second, so the lock coil gets only a short pulse.
  5. Pair remotes. Press ADD on the supply and then a remote button. Up to 20 remotes can be paired.
  6. Share access. Invite family members in the app, up to 15.

Step 4 matters more than it looks. An electronic lock coil is meant for a short pulse; leaving it powered for long can damage it. If your lock ever stops releasing, see our checks for an electronic lock that will not open.

PSWF-01, TYP-12 or TYBX-12: what is the difference?

All three let you open a lock from an app, but they are not the same kind of part.

  • PSWF-01 is a complete lock supply. It powers the lock, takes up to 20 remotes, and has exit-switch and door-phone terminals. It is the one to choose when you are replacing an old remote supply.
  • TYP-12 is the Wi-Fi controller inside kits such as Combo-CN14, with its own 12 V 2 A adapter. Those kits come with 1 to 3 remotes. On our store it is sold as part of a kit, not on its own.
  • TYBX-12 is a Wi-Fi relay switch. Its listing says it works from 5 V to 48 V and can trigger electric locks, magnetic locks and other systems that need a short or long contact. It does not power the lock, so it suits a setup that already has a lock supply and needs only an app trigger.

What if the Wi-Fi or internet goes down?

The remotes keep working. They talk to the supply by radio and do not need Wi-Fi or internet, as the kit listings state. Only app and voice control stop until the internet returns. In a power cut, an RML-8K based kit stays locked and opens with its key. If you want the app to work through power cuts too, plan a backup for the supply and your Wi-Fi router.

Which one should you buy?

  • You already have an electronic lock and want app control: Combo-CN55 (₹2,950) with 2 remotes, or Combo-CN218 (₹3,450) with 3.
  • You already have remotes that pair with a 433 MHz supply: the PSWF-01 alone (₹2,750). Check frequency with our 433 MHz remote and receiver guide.
  • No lock yet, tight budget: Combo-CN14 (₹3,450).
  • No lock yet, whole family, door phone now or later: Combo-CN111 (₹5,499).
