ABT-100 Dual Beam Outdoor 100m Sensor

Product Overview

Brief Description

The NAVKAR SYSTEMS ABT-100 Dual Beam Active Infrared Detector is a long-range security and intrusion detection device designed to create an invisible infrared barrier around protected areas. It uses dual infrared beams between a transmitter and receiver to detect unauthorized movement when the beams are interrupted.

Main Purpose

The ABT-100 is designed for perimeter security and intrusion detection across entrances, gates, boundaries, pathways, warehouses, factories, commercial properties, and other restricted areas. When the infrared beams are interrupted, the receiver can trigger an alarm through its connected security or alarm-control system.

Key Benefits

  • Dual-Beam Detection: The ABT-100 uses two infrared beams to provide reliable intrusion detection and help reduce false alarms caused by partial beam interruption.
  • Long-Range Security: With an outdoor detection range of up to 100 metres, the detector can protect large open areas, boundaries, entrances and pathways.
  • Indoor and Outdoor Use: The detector is suitable for both indoor and appropriate outdoor security installations, providing flexible perimeter protection.
  • Weather-Resistant Housing: The IP55-rated housing helps protect the detector against dust and water exposure during suitable outdoor installations.
  • Reliable Perimeter Protection: The ABT-100 creates an invisible infrared detection barrier that can be used to monitor restricted areas and detect unauthorized movement.
  • Adjustable Beam Alignment: The transmitter and receiver can be adjusted to achieve accurate infrared beam alignment for reliable operation.

Installation

Step 1: Select suitable locations for the transmitter and receiver with a clear line of sight between them.

Step 2: Mount the transmitter and receiver securely on stable surfaces using the supplied mounting brackets and screws.

Step 3: Position both units at approximately the same height and point them toward each other.

Step 4: Connect the required power and alarm wiring according to the terminal markings and the compatible security control panel.

Step 5: Power on the units and use the built-in alignment mechanism to accurately align the infrared beams.

Step 6: Check the indicator status and confirm that the receiver is correctly detecting the transmitter beams.

Step 7: Perform an intrusion test by walking through the protected beam path and verify that the connected alarm system responds correctly.

Wiring

The ABT-100 requires wired electrical connections between the detector units, power supply and the compatible alarm/control system. The exact terminal assignment should be followed from the product's supplied wiring diagram or terminal markings.

Power: Connect the transmitter and receiver to the specified DC power supply with correct polarity.

Input: The receiver receives the infrared beams transmitted by the transmitter; no separate user input is normally required for beam detection.

Output: Connect the receiver's alarm/relay output to a compatible security alarm panel, access-control controller, or other monitoring equipment.

Other Connections: Connect the transmitter and receiver according to their respective terminal labels. Keep signal and power wiring secure and protected from moisture or mechanical damage.

Important: Do not connect an unknown voltage to the detector. Verify the actual operating voltage and relay terminal configuration from the supplied product documentation before final wiring.

Programming

The ABT-100 is primarily a physical alignment and alarm-output detector, rather than a device requiring software-based programming.

Step 1: Power the transmitter and receiver using the specified supply.

Step 2: Adjust the transmitter and receiver orientation so that the two infrared beams are accurately received.

Step 3: Observe the detector's indicator LEDs while making small alignment adjustments.

Step 4: Continue adjustment until the receiver indicates stable beam reception.

Step 5: Connect and configure the alarm output on the compatible security alarm/control panel.

Step 6: Test the system by interrupting both infrared beams and confirm that the alarm output activates.

Operation

Step 1: The transmitter continuously emits two infrared beams toward the receiver.

Step 2: Under normal conditions, the receiver continuously monitors both beams.

Step 3: When an intruder crosses the protected path and interrupts the required infrared beams, the detector identifies the interruption.

Step 4: The receiver activates its alarm output, which can be connected to a compatible alarm panel or security system.

Troubleshooting

Problem: The ABT-100 does not power on

Solution: Check the DC power supply, polarity, terminal connections and cable continuity. Ensure that the supplied voltage matches the detector's required power specification.

Problem: Receiver does not detect the transmitter

Solution: Confirm that both units are powered on and facing each other. Check for obstructions and adjust the horizontal and vertical alignment until stable beam reception is achieved.

Problem: Detector gives false alarms

Solution: Check the alignment of both infrared beams and make sure vegetation, animals, vehicles, moving objects or other obstructions are not interrupting the beam path.

Problem: Alarm does not activate when the beam is interrupted

Solution: Check the receiver's alarm-output wiring and verify the connection to the compatible alarm panel. Confirm that the correct COM, NO or NC terminals are being used.

Problem: Detection range is lower than expected

Solution: Check the transmitter and receiver alignment, clean the infrared lens surfaces and remove any obstructions. Make sure the installation distance is within the specified operating range.

Problem: Detector becomes unstable after installation

Solution: Check that both units are firmly mounted. Tighten the mounting hardware and realign the transmitter and receiver if vibration, wind or movement has changed their position.

Problem: Outdoor operation is affected by environmental conditions

Solution: Check the detector housing and cable connections for moisture or damage. Ensure the units are properly installed within their specified environmental protection limits.

Customer Problems

Problem: Customer reports that the detector keeps triggering the alarm without any person crossing the protected area

Solution: Check the beam alignment and mounting stability. Inspect the detection path for vegetation, animals, vehicles or other moving objects that could interrupt the beams.

Problem: Customer says the detector is not detecting people

Solution: Verify that both units are powered and correctly aligned. Make sure the person is crossing the actual protected beam path and test the detector by intentionally interrupting the beams.

Problem: Customer cannot align the transmitter and receiver

Solution: Ensure both units are installed at a similar height and directly face each other. Make small horizontal and vertical adjustments until stable beam reception is achieved.

Problem: Customer says the alarm panel is not receiving the detector signal

Solution: Check the receiver's alarm-output wiring and verify the COM, NO and NC connections according to the detector and alarm-panel configuration.

Problem: Customer says the detector does not achieve the advertised 100 m outdoor range

Solution: Check the installation distance, beam alignment, lens condition and environmental conditions. Ensure there are no obstructions between the transmitter and receiver.

Problem: Customer reports false alarms during outdoor installation

Solution: Inspect the beam path for moving branches, vegetation, animals and vehicles. Also check whether wind or vibration is causing the detector units to move out of alignment.

Problem: Customer reports that the detector stops working after rain

Solution: Inspect the housing, cable entry points and connections for moisture or physical damage. Ensure the housing is properly closed and the installation is within the product's specified IP55 protection conditions.

Problem: Customer says the detector works initially but later becomes unreliable

Solution: Check whether the transmitter or receiver has shifted because of vibration, wind or loose mounting. Secure both units and perform the beam-alignment procedure again.

Step 5: After the beam path is restored, the detector returns to its normal monitoring state according to the connected system configuration.
