How does a cloud attendance machine work?
- Punch. The employee punches by fingerprint, face, card or PIN, exactly as on any attendance machine.
- Store. The machine saves the punch in its own memory first. This is why log capacity (70,000 to 10,00,000 records on the models below) still matters.
- Push. Over Wi-Fi, LAN or a 4G module, the machine pushes the punch to a server. Listings call this "push data" or "auto push".
- View. The software turns punches into attendance, late arrivals, early exits, overtime and monthly reports, and the mobile app shows them on your phone.
If the internet drops, a push-capable machine keeps storing punches and sends them when the connection returns. Staff do not need to do anything different.
Wi-Fi, LAN, cloud: what is the difference?
- LAN (TCP/IP) means the machine plugs into your router with a network cable. It is the most stable link, but you need a cable run to the wall where the machine goes.
- Wi-Fi means no network cable, only a power point. Good for rented shops and offices where you cannot drill for cables. Check the Wi-Fi signal at the exact mounting spot.
- Cloud is about where the software lives. Desktop software keeps the data on one office PC; cloud software keeps it online so any phone or laptop can open it. A machine with Wi-Fi or LAN and push data can work with cloud software; a USB-only machine cannot.
- 4G modules suit sites with no broadband, such as construction sites and farms. On our store the Realtime Rs-20+ lists 4G as optional.

- Multi-site businesses: a chain of shops, clinics, schools or godowns, where each site gets a machine and head office sees everyone on one screen.

What should you check before buying?
- Push data support. For live reports on a phone, the listing should say push data or auto push, not only USB.
- Which software and app. Ask which cloud software the machine works with, and what it costs after any free period. The BioMax N-E90Pro+B is listed with one year of free cloud software; plan for renewal after that.
- Battery. Built-in battery (N-E90Pro+B, S-B251CB, RS 9w) keeps the machine punching during short power cuts.

How to set up a cloud attendance machine
- Mount the machine near the entry, within Wi-Fi range or a LAN point, close to a power socket.
- Connect it to Wi-Fi or LAN from the machine's menu and check it shows as online.
- Create your account in the attendance software and add the machine by its serial number or server settings, as the software instructs.
- Enrol employees on the machine and match them to employee records in the software.
- Set shifts, weekly offs and late rules, then install the mobile app and log in.
