Realtime T502 L1 Aadhaar-enabled biometric attendance tablet

Aadhaar-Enabled Biometric Attendance Machines: What They Are and Who Needs One

Short answer: an Aadhaar-enabled biometric attendance machine checks an employee's fingerprint (or iris) against their Aadhaar record through UIDAI, instead of against a fingerprint stored only inside the machine. It is needed mainly by government offices, government-aided schools and colleges, and organisations told by a department to mark attendance through an Aadhaar-based system. On our store these tablets cost ₹22,500 to ₹39,000; prices include GST and delivery across India is free.

What is an Aadhaar-enabled attendance machine?

It is usually an Android tablet with a certified fingerprint scanner, a SIM slot or Wi-Fi, and an attendance app. When an employee punches in, the device sends the encrypted fingerprint with their Aadhaar or employee ID to the authentication service, gets a yes or no back, and records the time. The attendance itself is kept on a server or cloud portal, not in a register on the wall.

A normal biometric attendance machine works differently. You enrol each person's fingers once, the templates stay inside the machine, and the machine matches them offline. It does not need the internet and has nothing to do with Aadhaar. For most shops, factories and private offices, that ordinary machine is the right choice. Our guide to choosing a biometric attendance machine covers those.

How does Aadhaar-based attendance work?

  1. Registration. The organisation registers employees on the attendance portal or software it has been given, linking each person to their Aadhaar.
  2. Punch. The employee enters an ID or Aadhaar number on the tablet and places a finger on the scanner.
  3. Authentication. The scanner encrypts the fingerprint and the app sends it for verification over 4G or Wi-Fi.
  4. Record. On a match, the punch is stored with date, time and device, and supervisors see it on the portal.

Because every punch is verified online, a steady data connection matters. That is why these devices carry a SIM slot as well as Wi-Fi or LAN, and why most have a built-in battery.

What do L0, L1 and STQC mean on these machines?

UIDAI only accepts fingerprints from "registered devices". An L0 device encrypts the fingerprint in software on the host. An L1 device does the encryption inside the scanner hardware, which is harder to tamper with, and UIDAI has been moving authentication to L1 devices. STQC is the government testing body that certifies these scanners. When a department asks for an "L1 RD service" device, look for L1 in the product name or a stated STQC/UIDAI certification, as in the models below.

Who actually needs one?

  • Government offices that are told to use an Aadhaar-based attendance system.
  • Government and aided schools, colleges and hospitals where the state department has fixed Aadhaar-based attendance.
  • Contractors and agencies working on a government site where the client demands Aadhaar-verified attendance.
  • Field and scheme work where identity must be verified against Aadhaar, such as the uses listed for the Mantra iris scanner (Aadhaar authentication and banking applications).

Who does not need one: a private shop, clinic, showroom or factory that only wants to know who came in late. Aadhaar authentication runs through approved software and agencies, and the department or software provider normally tells you which device to buy. If nobody has asked you for Aadhaar verification, a regular fingerprint or face machine is cheaper and works offline.

How to choose between them

  • Follow the department's list first. If your circular or software provider names a device or a scanner level, buy that. Send us the circular on WhatsApp and we will match it.
  • Connectivity. All four in-stock models do Wi-Fi. The S-SAB3000 and the Realtime tablets also take a SIM, which helps where office Wi-Fi drops. The PB-ABAS100 listing states LAN and Wi-Fi.
  • Screen and memory. The T503 L1 has the largest screen and the most RAM and storage of the in-stock models. The T502 L1 and S-SAB3000 both use a 7-inch screen.
  • Mounting. A tablet left on a reception desk gets knocked over. A wall casing such as the AD-39 or MC-503 keeps it fixed at one height and stops it walking away.
  • Staff with worn fingers. Labourers and older staff often fail fingerprint checks. An iris scanner or a face-capable model gives them another way to authenticate.

Where should you fit the device?

Mount it indoors near the entry, at chest height, out of direct sun and rain, close to a power socket and within good mobile or Wi-Fi signal. Test the SIM signal at the exact spot before drilling. If the entry is semi-open, use a metal enclosure; our metal enclosures for attendance machines list which model each one fits.

FAQ

Is Aadhaar-based attendance compulsory for private companies?

No. Aadhaar-based attendance is used where a government department requires it. A private business can use any ordinary fingerprint, face or card attendance machine.

Does an Aadhaar-enabled attendance machine work without internet?

Aadhaar authentication needs a live connection, so plan for 4G or Wi-Fi at the device. That is why models like the Secureye S-SAB3000 and Realtime T503 L1 carry a SIM slot as well as Wi-Fi.

What is the difference between an L0 and L1 fingerprint scanner?

Both are UIDAI registered devices. An L1 scanner encrypts the fingerprint inside the scanner hardware, while L0 does it in software, so L1 is the more secure level that UIDAI has been moving to.

What does an Aadhaar-enabled attendance machine cost in India?

On our store the in-stock models cost ₹22,500 to ₹39,000, including GST. A USB L1 fingerprint scanner for a PC setup costs ₹3,500 to ₹4,500.

Can I use an iris scanner for Aadhaar attendance?

Yes, where your software supports it. The Mantra MIS100V2 is a USB iris scanner with RD service, listed for Aadhaar authentication, banking and access control applications.

Do you help with setup?

Yes. Our team guides you through installation and setup on call and WhatsApp. Orders are prepaid and delivered free across India.
