How Much Does It Cost to Automate a House Gate in India?
Short answer: automating a house gate in India costs about ₹30,000 to ₹53,000 in parts on our store, depending on the gate's weight, its length and how you want to open it. A small sliding gate with a safety beam, warning light and phone control comes to about ₹31,795; a heavy, fully clad kothi gate about ₹38,641; a long farmhouse gate with GSM control about ₹52,739. What you need to automate a gate, and why
- A motor sized to the gate's weight. This is the biggest cost. Our sliding motors run from ₹22,500 (600 kg) to ₹35,000 (2000 kg); swing openers from ₹37,999.
- Gear rack for a sliding gate. Bolted along the gate so the motor can drive it. Our motor-only listings do not include it; GR-12M is ₹1,399 per metre.
- A safety beam. Stops the gate closing on a person, child or car. The SB-10 pair is ₹799.
- A warning light. Flashes while the gate moves so people on the road are warned. The SF-2T is ₹850.
- Remotes. Every SGM motor comes with 2. Extra RM-SGM remotes are ₹1,249 each.
- A way to open it from your phone, if you want one. Wi-Fi (₹1,849) where the gate has 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, GSM (₹3,999) where it does not.
- Things we do not sell but you must budget: a 220 V supply on its own MCB at the gate, cable in conduit, a concrete base for the motor, and any fabricator work such as a straight strip for the rack or new wheels.
Budget 1: small house gate, about 3.5 m and 350 kg
A typical sliding gate on a 30 to 40 feet plot, open grill with partial sheet. Assumed: 3.5 m leaf (about 11.5 ft), around 350 kg, Wi-Fi reaches the gate.

Without the Wi-Fi module the same gate costs ₹29,946. The ready SGM-370 kit with 4 rails (about 13 ft of rail, sensor, siren lamp and 2 remotes in one box) is ₹32,950, or ₹34,799 with Wi-Fi. The kit is simpler to order; the separate route is cheaper here and gives you the heavier 12 mm rack, since the GR-12M listing notes that rail supplied with motors is generally 8 mm.
Budget 2: heavy kothi gate, about 5.5 m and 800 kg

What if my gate swings open?
