Guard Tour System: How It Proves Your Security Guard Did the Rounds
Short answer: a guard tour system proves your security guard did the rounds by making him touch a reader stick to RFID checkpoints fixed along the patrol route. Every touch records which checkpoint was visited and when, so the next morning you can see exactly which points were covered, which were missed and whether the rounds were on time. On our store the GTS62C guard tour system with a reader stick and 10 G10 RFID checkpoints costs ₹14,990.
What problem does a guard tour system solve?
Most housing societies, factories and warehouses in India still rely on a patrol register. The guard writes "round done, all OK" against each hour. Everyone knows the weakness: the register can be filled in at the cabin, in advance, without walking anywhere. Owners usually find out only after a theft from the back godown or a fire that started in a room nobody checked.
A guard tour system replaces the guard's word with a record. The guard has to physically reach each point to log it. Nothing in the record can be filled in from the cabin.
How does a guard tour system work?
- Checkpoints are fixed on the route. Small RFID tags are screwed to walls, poles or doors at the places the guard must visit. The GTS62C kit includes 10 G10 RFID checkpoints.
- The guard carries a reader stick. On each round he holds the stick against each checkpoint in turn.
- Each touch is stored with the time. The stick saves the checkpoint and the time of the visit.
- The supervisor downloads the record. The data is transferred to a computer, where the software shows the rounds checkpoint by checkpoint.
- Gaps stand out. A missed checkpoint, a round that took far too long, or a two-hour gap at 3 am is obvious at a glance.
The GTS62C product page does not list battery type, memory size or the download method, so ask us on WhatsApp for those details and the software before you plan your reporting routine.
Where should you fix the checkpoints?
Put checkpoints where trouble starts and where a lazy guard would not go on his own. Ten points cover most small and mid-size sites. Typical placements:
- Gates: main gate, back gate, service or wicket gate.
- Boundary corners: the far corners of the plot, especially behind buildings.
- Plant and utility rooms: DG set, electrical panel room, pump room, water tank.
- Stores: godown doors, scrap yard, loading dock.
- Parking: basement or stilt parking, two-wheeler stand.
- Roof access: terrace door or staircase head.
Fix them firmly with screws at shoulder height, where they are easy to reach with the stick but not easy to pull off. Do not put several checkpoints close to the guard cabin; the point is to make him walk.
Example routes with 10 checkpoints
| Site | Suggested 10 checkpoints |
|---|---|
| Housing society | Main gate, back gate, each tower's lift lobby (up to 4), basement parking, pump room, DG set, terrace door of the tallest tower |
| Factory or warehouse | Main gate, loading dock, raw material store, finished goods store, scrap yard, DG and panel room, two far boundary corners, canteen, office entrance |
| School or college | Main gate, rear gate, each block entrance (up to 4), lab block, library, playground far end, hostel gate |
| Farmhouse or plot | Entry gate, four boundary corners, tube well room, store, cattle shed, main house rear door, parking |
How to run it day to day
- Set a round frequency. For example, a full round every one to two hours at night. Tell guards the rule clearly.
- Review the record every morning. A system nobody checks will soon be ignored. Five minutes a day is enough.
- Act on gaps. Discuss missed points with the guard or the agency the same day.
- Vary the order sometimes. A predictable route is easier for thieves to time.
- Keep a written list of checkpoints. Label each point with a number and keep the list with the supervisor.
Guard tour vs CCTV vs attendance machine
These do different jobs and work best together. An attendance machine shows that the guard reported for duty. A guard tour system shows that he moved around the site during the shift. CCTV shows what happened at a camera's spot. A society that uses all three can answer "was he here, did he patrol, and what did he see" without arguments.

FAQ
What is a guard tour system?
It is a patrol-checking system with RFID checkpoints fixed along a route and a reader stick carried by the guard. Each touch records the checkpoint and time, proving the round was done.
What is the price of a guard tour system in India?
On our store the GTS62C guard tour system with a reader stick and 10 G10 RFID checkpoints costs ₹14,990, including GST.
How many checkpoints do I need?
Count the gates, far boundary corners, utility rooms and stores the guard must visit. Most small and mid-size sites manage with 10, which is what the GTS62C kit includes.
Do the checkpoints need wiring or electricity?
RFID guard tour checkpoints are small tags that are screwed in place; the guard's stick reads them by touch. Confirm the G10 checkpoint details with us if you are fitting them outdoors.
Can a guard fake the rounds?
Not without walking to each checkpoint, because the record is created only when the stick touches the tag. Review the record daily so gaps are caught early.
Is a guard tour system better than CCTV?
They do different jobs. CCTV shows what happened in front of a camera; a guard tour system shows whether the guard patrolled. Most sites benefit from both.
