MC-P17 lockable metal enclosure for a face attendance machine

Metal Enclosure for a Biometric Attendance Machine: Sizes and When to Use One

Short answer: a metal enclosure is a lockable steel box that holds your biometric attendance machine on the wall, with a clear front or cut-outs so staff can still punch. Use one when the machine sits at a factory gate, a semi-open entry, a dusty site, or anywhere people might switch it off, unplug it or knock it down. On our store enclosures cost ₹1,799 to ₹2,950; prices include GST and delivery across India is free.

What does a metal enclosure protect against?

  • Tampering. A locked cover stops staff from switching the machine off, pulling the adapter or changing settings to dodge a late mark.
  • Knocks and theft. Trolleys, ladders and shoulders hit machines at busy entries. A steel box takes the hit, and a fixed box is much harder to remove.
  • Dust. Workshops, godowns and construction offices fill sensors and buttons with dust. A closed box keeps most of it out.
  • Rain splash in semi-open spots. Some models, such as the MC-P17, are listed for semi-outdoor use. Others, such as the FG-9 universal casing, are listed as not weatherproof and meant for covered areas.

An enclosure is not a fix for direct rain or full sun on a face machine. Mount the machine under a roof or shade, and use the box for protection on top of that.

Which size enclosure do you need?

Enclosures come in three broad groups, matched to the shape of the machine:

  1. Fingerprint machines (small, keypad and sensor at the front). The FG-9 family at ₹1,799 suits these, with an acrylic front and a cut-out for the finger.
  2. Long range face machines (tall screen and camera, no keypad). These need a deeper box with a cut-out for the camera, such as the LF-29.
  3. Large Pro series and Aadhaar tablets. Big-screen face terminals and Aadhaar tablets need their own casing, such as the MC-P17 for the Realtime Pro 1700 or the AD-39 for the Realtime T502.

Model-specific casings fit best. If your exact model is not listed, measure the machine's width, height and depth, including the wall bracket, and send the numbers or the model name to us on WhatsApp before ordering. The MC-P17 listing, for example, gives an internal size of 33.2 x 19 x 5.5 cm and asks you to check that your machine fits within it.

The FG-9 also comes in a universal version listed for fingerprint attendance machines of many brands; it is marked not weatherproof, for covered areas. A larger LFPro-49 casing (₹2,950) is listed for big Pro series long range face machines. Both are in the metal enclosures collection, along with casings for other specific models.

When should you use one, and when can you skip it?

  • Use one at factory and warehouse gates, construction site offices, school and hospital entries with heavy footfall, any semi-open porch, and anywhere staff have tried to switch the machine off.
  • Use one for Aadhaar tablets on a counter or wall. A loose tablet walks away; the AD-39 and MC-503 fix it in place.
  • Skip it in a small air-conditioned office where the machine sits inside a staffed reception. A good wall bracket is enough there.

What features matter in an enclosure?

  • Lock and key on the front cover. The LF-29, MC-P17, MC-503 and Access10 Pro enclosure all list one; check the product page for the others.
  • Cut-outs in the right place. Fingerprint machines need a finger opening; face machines need a camera opening and a clear view of the screen.
  • Cable holes for the adapter and LAN, so you do not drill the box yourself.
  • Ventilation. Machines run warm in a closed box in summer. The MC-503 and the Access10 Pro enclosure list ventilation.
  • Mini UPS space. A small UPS inside the box keeps attendance running in short power cuts. The Access10 Pro enclosure lists space for one.

How to fit a metal enclosure

  1. Pick a spot under a roof, at chest height, near a power socket and your LAN point or Wi-Fi.
  2. Hold the empty box on the wall, mark the holes, and drill with suitable wall plugs.
  3. Pass the adapter and LAN cables through the cable holes before you fix the box.
  4. Screw the box to the wall, mount the machine inside, connect the cables and check that the screen, sensor and camera line up with the openings.
  5. Test a few punches with the cover closed, then lock it and keep the keys with the admin.

FAQ

Does a metal enclosure make an attendance machine weatherproof?

No. It protects against tampering, knocks and dust, and some models like the MC-P17 are listed for semi-outdoor spots with rain splash. Always mount the machine under a roof or shade.

How much does a metal casing for a biometric machine cost?

On our store metal enclosures cost ₹1,799 to ₹2,950, including GST. Fingerprint machine casings start at ₹1,799.

Will a universal enclosure fit my machine?

Universal casings fit many machines of the same type, but always check. Measure width, height and depth with the bracket, or send us your model name on WhatsApp before ordering.

Can I use a face recognition machine inside an enclosure?

Yes, if the enclosure is made for face machines. The LF-29 has an acrylic front with a camera cut, and the MC-P17 is made for the Realtime Pro 1700 face terminal. A fingerprint casing will block the camera.

Is the attendance machine included with the enclosure?

No. The enclosures are sold without a machine. Buy the machine separately and fit it inside.
