SRN-RM2 remote control panic alarm kit with two remotes for elderly people

Panic Buttons and SOS Watches for Elderly Parents Living Alone

Short answer: if someone else is usually in the house, a plug-in remote alarm such as the SRN-RM2 (₹1,999) is enough: your parent presses a remote and a 110 dB siren sounds so family or neighbours come running. If your parents live alone and you need the alert on your own phone, use a Wi-Fi + GSM alarm panel that calls family numbers, such as the ACJ-407 (₹8,499), whose two supplied remotes have an SOS button, and add a wearable PW-43 watch-style SOS button (₹1,450) or a PNC-43 wall button (₹600). Prices include GST and delivery across India is free.

Many families in India have parents living on their own while children work in another city. The worry is always the same: a fall in the bathroom, chest pain at night, or a stranger at the door, and no way to call for help quickly. A panic button will not replace a phone or a caregiver, but it gives your parent one large, simple button to press when a phone is out of reach. This guide explains the two ways to set one up and what each costs on our store.

Which panic button setup is right for your parents?

Ask one question first: who should hear the alarm?

  • People in the same house or next door. A remote-controlled siren is the simplest choice. Nothing to configure, no SIM, no app. It plugs into a wall socket.
  • You, wherever you are. You need an alarm panel with a SIM card that calls and sends SMS to your saved numbers, and the panic buttons pair with that panel. This also gives your parents burglar protection on the same system.

Option 1: a plug-in remote alarm (no app, no SIM)

The SRN-RM2 is a mains-powered (220V AC) alarm unit with a 110 dB siren and 2 wireless remotes. Its listing gives up to 100 m of wireless coverage, depending on walls. Each remote has two buttons: Button A turns the alarm on and off like a switch, for an emergency, and Button B sounds it only while held, so it also works as a call bell when your mother simply needs help from the next room. You can wall-mount the unit or keep it on a shelf.

Two versions add a warning light: Combo-CN292 (₹2,499) and Combo-CN293 (₹2,999), both named as sound-and-light kits with 2 remotes. A flashing light helps when a family member is hard of hearing or the TV is loud. Check each product page for exactly what is in the box.

Option 2: an alarm panel that calls your phone

An alarm panel holds a SIM card and calls or sends SMS to the numbers you save when a panic button is pressed, even if the Wi-Fi is down. Two of our panels suit elderly parents:

  • ACJ-407 (₹8,499): the 2 supplied remotes have an SOS button, it sends SMS to up to 5 numbers, has a 4.3-inch colour screen, and keeps working for about 6 to 8 hours in a power cut.
  • ACJ-405 (₹8,450): a large SOS button on the panel itself, emergency calls to up to 5 numbers (it dials the next if one is busy), and two-way audio, so you can talk to your parent through the panel.

Then add buttons where your parents spend their time:

Button What the listing states Best place Price
PNC-43 wall button 433 MHz, sends an instant signal to the alarm panel Bedside, near the bathroom door, beside the sofa ₹600
PS-43 SOS button 433 MHz, carry in a pocket or mount on a wall, up to 1 year battery; needs a security system In a kurta pocket or on a lanyard ₹650
PW-43 watch-style SOS 433.92 MHz, worn on the wrist, about 100 m in open space, CR2450 battery, red LED flashes when sent; makes no sound itself On the wrist, all day ₹1,450

These buttons only send a signal; the panel does the calling and the siren. A matching frequency is not always enough for two devices to pair, so WhatsApp us your panel model and we will confirm which buttons work with it before you order.

What does it cost? Two worked examples

Parents with a helper or tenant in the house: one SRN-RM2 at ₹1,999. If one parent sleeps in a separate room, the second remote in the box covers them.

Parents alone, children in another city:

Item Qty Amount
ACJ-407 panel kit (2 remotes with SOS, 1 door sensor, 1 motion detector, siren) 1 × ₹8,499 ₹8,499
PW-43 watch-style SOS, one per parent 2 × ₹1,450 ₹2,900
PNC-43 wall button near the bathroom 1 × ₹600 ₹600
Total ₹11,999

The same kit's door sensor and motion detector also guard the main door and hall at night, so the system covers burglary as well as emergencies. Our ACJ panel comparison explains the other differences between the ACJ-405 and ACJ-407.

Where should panic buttons go?

  1. By the bed, within reach without sitting up. Most night-time emergencies start here.
  2. Near the bathroom. Falls often happen in the bathroom. The listings do not state a waterproof rating for these buttons, so mount a wall button where water does not splash, and check before wearing the PW-43 in the shower.
  3. Where they sit during the day, such as the sofa, the puja room or the balcony chair.
  4. On the person. A wearable or pocket button goes everywhere, including the garden and the stairs, which a wall button cannot.
  5. At a low height for anyone using a wheelchair or walker.

Make it work when it matters

  • Test every button once a month with your parent, so pressing it is a habit and not a mystery.
  • Save at least three numbers on the panel: you, a sibling and a neighbour who can reach the house in minutes.
  • Keep the SIM in the panel recharged with your operator.
  • Change button batteries before they run flat: the PW-43 uses a CR2450 cell, and the PS-43 lists up to a year.
  • Tell the neighbour what the siren means.

A panic button alerts family; it is not a medical device and does not call an ambulance. For a clinic or care home with many beds, see our nurse call system guide. FAQ

What is the best panic button for an elderly person living alone?

One that reaches family on their phones. An alarm panel with a SIM, such as the ACJ-407 or ACJ-405, plus a wearable PW-43 SOS button gives one-touch alerts that call your saved numbers.

Can a panic button call my mobile directly?

The PW-43, PS-43 and PNC-43 send a signal to an alarm panel, and the panel calls or sends SMS to your numbers using its SIM card. They do not call by themselves.

Is there a panic alarm that needs no app or SIM?

Yes. The SRN-RM2 (₹1,999) plugs into a socket and sounds a 110 dB siren when the remote is pressed. It alerts people nearby, not your phone.

How far does the remote work from the alarm unit?

The SRN-RM2 listing gives up to 100 m of wireless coverage, and the PW-43 about 100 m in open space. Walls and floors reduce this, so test from every room.

Is there a monthly fee?

No subscription from us. With an alarm panel, you only keep its SIM card active with your mobile operator.

Can the panic button also work as a call bell?

Yes, on the SRN-RM2. Button B sounds the alarm only while held, so it works as a call bell for non-emergencies.
