Warning Light, Push Button and Keypad: Gate Motor Accessories That Matter
Short answer: after the safety beam, the three gate motor accessories most worth buying are a warning light that flashes while the gate moves (SF-2T, ₹850), a wired push button for the guard room or porch (SW-3B, ₹899), and a wireless keypad so staff can enter with a PIN (DK-SGM, ₹3,450). The light protects people on the road and in the driveway, the push button gives a control that never needs batteries, and the keypad saves handing out remotes. What does a gate warning light do?
A warning light flashes, and often sounds, every time the gate starts to move. It tells a child in the driveway, a scooter on the road or a neighbour walking past that a heavy gate is about to open or close. On a sliding gate that runs along a boundary wall, or a swing gate that opens towards the street, it is the only warning people outside get.
The SF-2T warning light on our store is a yellow strobe with these points from its listing:
- High-brightness 3528 LEDs with steady, strobe and revolving light modes.
- A 110 dB buzzer.
- Runs on AC 110 V, AC 220 V, DC 12 V or DC 24 V, so it can match most control boards.
- IP44 rated, which means protected against splashing water. Mount it under a pillar cap or a small hood rather than fully exposed to driving rain.
Our SGM-370 and SGM-550 kits already include a siren lamp, so you only need to buy one separately with a motor-only listing or when replacing an old lamp.
Where should I fit the warning light?
- High on the pillar next to the motor, so it is visible from the road and from inside the compound.
- Facing the direction people approach from. On a corner plot, pick the side with more traffic.
- Wired to the control board's lamp output if your board has one. Check the output voltage in the motor manual and set the lamp to match. If the board has no lamp output, ask us before wiring; a lamp wired straight to mains will stay on all the time.
Why add a wired push button?
Remotes get lost, run flat and walk off with drivers. A wired push button inside the guard room or by the front door always works while the motor has power, needs no batteries and cannot be copied. In a society or factory, it lets the guard open the gate for visitors without anyone carrying a remote.
The SW-3B is a 3-way push button switch unit made in India from unbreakable engineering-grade ABS. Its listing gives an IP65 rating, heavy-duty elements with silver contacts and 3-step safety. It connects with low-voltage cable to the push-button terminals on the control board. Run the cable in conduit, and ask us which terminals to use for your board.
How does a wireless gate keypad work?
A keypad mounted at the gate lets anyone who knows the PIN open it, with no phone or remote. It is the simplest way to let in domestic help, a driver, children coming home from school or a tenant, and you can change the PIN when someone leaves.
The DK-SGM wireless keypad listing gives:
- A rolling code system, so the signal cannot simply be recorded and replayed.
- A range of 200 metres in the open and 35 metres indoors.
- About 2 years of battery life, with two low beeps to warn of a weak battery. Range can drop by 25 to 30 percent on low batteries.
- An LED light behind each button for use at night.
- A weatherproof housing for indoor or outdoor fitting. Avoid mounting it on or near metal, which blocks the signal.
- Compatibility with Navkar Systems gate openers only.
How to set it up, in short:
- Test the keypad near the motor before fixing it, as the listing advises.
- Pair it with the gate's control board, following the manual.
- Set your own PIN in place of any default.
- Mount it on the pillar at a comfortable height, away from metal gate parts, on the side where people arrive on foot.
- Test from the mounting point, then note the PIN somewhere safe inside the house.

FAQ
Is a warning light necessary on an automatic gate?
It is strongly recommended. It warns people on the road and in the driveway that the gate is moving. The SF-2T costs ₹850, and our SGM-370 and SGM-550 kits include a siren lamp.
What voltage does the SF-2T warning light need?
Its listing says it runs on AC 110 V, AC 220 V, DC 12 V or DC 24 V. Match it to the lamp output of your gate motor's control board.
Can I open my gate with a push button instead of a remote?
Yes. A wired push button such as the SW-3B (₹899) connects to the control board's push-button terminals and works without batteries while the motor has power.
Will the DK-SGM keypad work with my existing gate motor?
Its listing says it is compatible only with Navkar Systems gate openers. For another brand, send us the motor model before ordering.
How long do gate keypad batteries last?
The DK-SGM listing estimates about 2 years. It gives two low beeps when the battery is low, and range drops by 25 to 30 percent on weak batteries.
