Short answer: in India a complete door access control kit with the lock costs about ₹3,999 to ₹6,299 for an RFID card and PIN door, ₹5,999 to ₹11,999 with a fingerprint reader, ₹7,950 to ₹14,999 with face recognition, and ₹7,050 to ₹8,699 for a kit that can also be opened over Wi-Fi or a phone app. A double door costs ₹6,950 to ₹9,449 for a card kit. The price moves with three things: how people get in, which lock your door needs, and what else comes in the box. What a complete door kit includes

Every working door needs five parts. A reader outside the door (card and PIN keypad, fingerprint or face terminal). An electric lock: an EM lock (electromagnetic lock) on the top of the frame, a drop bolt hidden in the frame, or a glass door lock. An exit switch inside, so people can walk out without a card. A 12 V power supply, often the K80 (PK-80), which is a 12 V 3 A access control supply. And cards or key tags for your staff or family. A good kit has all five, matched and ready to wire. Some kits also add brackets, a door bell, a remote or a Wi-Fi receiver.

Kit or parts? A Secureye S-B2CB reader (₹1,650), EM-602 lock (₹1,499), PSW-44 exit switch (₹217), K80 supply (₹1,450) and 10 key tags (₹299) add up to ₹5,115. The ready Combo-CN53 kit, with the same kind of parts (RFID and PIN reader, EM lock 600 lbs, K80, PVC button, 10 key tags), is ₹4,950. So the kit is ₹165 cheaper, and the parts arrive matched. Buy loose only when you need a specific reader or already own some parts.

Which lock for your door

  • Wooden or metal door with a frame: an EM lock mounted on the top of the frame is the usual choice. Depending on which way the door opens and how much room the frame has, it needs an L bracket, a Z bracket or both. The EM lock bracket guide shows which one.
  • Frameless glass door: the glass cannot take screws, so use an EM lock with a U bracket that clamps onto the glass, a GG bracket where glass meets glass, or a drop bolt (with a U bracket for glass, or a fully frameless glass drop bolt). The EM lock vs drop bolt guide explains the trade-offs.
  • Double doors: a double leaf EM lock 1200 lbs (Combo-CN69) or two drop bolts (Combo-CN224).
  • Metal main gate or outdoor door: a weatherproof reader, and for a gate an electric rim lock, as in Combo-CN65.

What moves the price

  • Entry method. Card and PIN is the cheapest. Adding fingerprint to the same EM lock, K80 and button costs about ₹2,000 more: Combo-CN53 is ₹4,950 and Combo-CN164 is ₹6,999. Face kits start at ₹7,950.
  • Lock type. EM lock kits are the cheapest. The same card kit with a drop bolt (Combo-CN20, ₹5,499) costs ₹549 more than with an EM lock (Combo-CN53, ₹4,950).
  • Brackets. A Z and L bracket set is ₹890 on its own. Kits that include them, such as Combo-CN268 at ₹5,950, save you buying them later.
  • Weatherproof reader. A reader that can face rain and dust adds ₹1,349 here: Combo-CN232 is ₹6,299 against ₹4,950 for Combo-CN53.
  • Wi-Fi and app. Wi-Fi kits start at ₹7,050 and include a door bell, remote and receiver as well.
  • Number of doors. Each door needs its own reader, lock, exit switch and supply. Double doors need two locks or a double leaf lock.
  • Wiring and fitting are extra. Budget cable and a carpenter or electrician's time on top of the prices above.

A complete kit with the lock starts at ₹3,999 for card and PIN. Fingerprint kits cost ₹5,999 to ₹11,999, face kits ₹7,950 to ₹14,999, and Wi-Fi kits ₹7,050 to ₹8,699. Wiring and fitting are extra.

What happens to an EM lock in a power cut?

An EM lock holds the door only while it has power, so it releases when power is cut. That is why it is used on doors people must be able to leave in an emergency. To keep the door locked through a power cut, add battery backup; see our access control power supply guide.

Do I need internet for access control?

No. Standalone card, PIN and fingerprint readers work on their own with no internet. You need Wi-Fi only for the Wi-Fi and app kits, and only for the phone features.

How many users can one reader hold?

It depends on the model. The Secureye S-B2CB holds 450 cards and PINs, the WPRF-1K 2,000 users, the Combo-CN39 reader 1,000 fingerprints, and the Hikvision face terminal 1,500 faces. Check the product page before you buy.

Which cards and key tags work?
