E86 fingerprint attendance machine with access control

Attendance Machine With Door Access: One Device for Entry and Attendance

Short answer: an attendance machine with access control records each employee's punch and also opens the door for them, because it has a relay output that switches an electric lock. Mount it outside the door, wire it to an EM lock, a power supply and an exit button, and the same fingerprint, face or card that marks attendance lets the person in. On our store such machines start at ₹3,500 for a basic fingerprint unit, and complete kits with lock, power supply and exit switch cost ₹6,599 to ₹14,999. Prices include GST and delivery across India is free.

How does one device handle both entry and attendance?

Every time someone is verified, the machine does two things at once. It writes the punch (name, date, time) to its log, and it closes a relay for a few seconds. That relay is wired to the lock's power, so the door releases and then locks again. People who are not enrolled get neither a punch nor an open door.

Most machines that only take attendance have no relay, or no lock wiring terminals, so they cannot open a door. The products in our attendance machines with access control collection are the ones whose listings state access control.

What do you need besides the machine?

  • An electric lock. Usually a 600 lbs EM lock for a normal office door. Glass doors need a matching bracket or a glass door lock. Our EM lock buying guide covers sizes and brackets.
  • A 12 V access control power supply. It feeds the lock and, for many models, the machine. A supply with battery backup keeps the door working through a power cut.
  • An exit switch on the inside, so people can leave without punching. Push button, no-touch and break-glass options are compared in the exit switch guide.
  • RFID cards if you want card punching as well as fingerprint or face.
  • Cable between the machine, the lock, the supply and the exit switch.

Buying a ready combo saves you from matching these parts yourself. The lock, supply, exit switch and cards in the kits below come matched to the machine.

How is it wired?

This is the general pattern; always follow the wiring diagram that comes with your model.

  1. Fix the machine on the outside of the door, at about chest height, and the exit switch on the inside.
  2. Fit the EM lock on the top inside corner of the door frame, with its armature plate on the door.
  3. Run the lock's power through the machine's relay contacts and through the exit switch, so either one can cut power to the lock.
  4. Connect the power supply to the lock and the machine as the diagram shows, and plug it into a socket near the door.
  5. Enrol staff, set the unlock time (a few seconds is normal) and test from both sides before you leave.

An EM lock stays locked while it has power and opens when power is cut. That makes it fail-safe: in a power cut without battery backup, the door opens. If the door must stay locked through outages, add battery backup to the supply.

Which one should you pick?

  • One office door, small team, tight budget: Combo-CN67 at ₹6,599 gives you the machine, lock, supply, exit switch and cards in one box.
  • Glass door with no frame at the top: Combo-CN309 includes a frameless glass door lock instead of a standard EM lock.
  • Staff whose fingerprints wear out (workshops, kitchens, labour): pick a face model such as the Realtime Pro 304 Mini or BioMax BM-70W Pro. Our factory face attendance guide explains why.
  • Reports on Wi-Fi without pulling a USB drive: BioMax N-BM30W Pro, Realtime RS 9w or any of the Wi-Fi face models.
  • Bigger workforce: the T52F Pro (5,000 faces and fingerprints) or the Pro 1700 (10,000 faces).

Want to log people going out as well as in? Add an RF-SLV RFID slave reader (₹1,499) on the inside, where your model supports an external reader. To price a full door setup part by part, use the access control kit builder, or compare kit prices in the door access control system price guide.

FAQ

Can a biometric attendance machine open a door?

Yes, if it has access control, meaning a relay output for an electric lock. Models in our attendance with access control collection, such as the E86, Realtime RS 9w and BioMax N-BM30W Pro, state this in their listings.

What else do I need to buy with an access control attendance machine?

An electric lock (usually a 600 lbs EM lock), a 12 V power supply, an exit switch for the inside, and RFID cards if you want card access. Combos such as Combo-CN67 include all of these.

Does the door open in a power cut?

With an EM lock, yes, unless the power supply has battery backup. EM locks are fail-safe and release when power is lost.

How much does an attendance machine with door lock cost?

On our store a complete kit with machine, EM lock, power supply and exit switch costs ₹6,599 to ₹14,999, including GST. The machine alone starts at ₹3,500.

Can I use it on a glass door?

Yes. Use a glass door lock or an EM lock with the right bracket. Combo-CN309 comes with a frameless glass door lock.

Can one machine control two doors?

Normally one machine controls one door, because it has one lock relay. For a second door, fit a second machine or a separate access control reader.
