What security does a typical Indian home need?
Most homes start with three things: a lock you can open without a key at the main door or gate, a way to see visitors before you open (a video door phone), and a burglar alarm that calls your phone. Add a gate motor, Wi-Fi cameras and smoke detectors as your budget allows.
Which lock should I use for a metal main gate?
Metal gates and grill doors usually take an electronic rim lock, opened by remote, phone app or a button inside the house, with a key as backup. Wooden doors take a fingerprint or smart handle lock instead.
Can I automate my existing sliding gate?
Yes, if it slides smoothly by hand on a straight track. Use the Gate Builder: enter the gate weight and length and it picks the motor, the gear rack in whole metres, and optional safety sensors, Wi-Fi and warning light.
Will a home alarm work without Wi-Fi?
Choose a panel with GSM. It uses a SIM card to call and send SMS, so it still alerts you if the internet is down. The Security Builder shows which panels support Wi-Fi, GSM or both.
