Farmhouse Security Without Full-Time Staff: Beams, Solar Sirens and 4G Cameras
Short answer: a farmhouse with nobody living there full time needs security that calls you, not just a siren that nobody hears. A GSM alarm panel with infrared beams on two boundary runs, door and motion sensors, a solar siren on the house and a standalone solar siren kit for the shed costs about ₹25,000 at our prices, including a fingerprint padlock for the gate. Add two Wi-Fi cameras if the farmhouse has internet and the total is about ₹30,700. All prices below are our live website prices, include GST, and delivery across India is free.
4G solar cameras are the usual answer for farms without Wi-Fi, but all three of our 4G and solar camera models are out of stock at the time of writing. We list them below so you know what to ask for, and we plan the rest of the system so it works without them.
What does an unattended farmhouse need, and why?
- An alarm that works on a SIM card. Most farmhouses have mobile signal but no broadband. The ACJ-400 uses GSM as well as Wi-Fi and calls or messages preset numbers when a sensor trips. That call is your guard.
- Beams on the boundary. Farm boundaries are long and easy to climb. An infrared beam pair warns you while the intruder is still outside the house. The ABT-250 triple beam is weatherproof, and its listing gives up to 150 m between the pair.
- Solar sirens. Power cuts are common in rural areas. The SRSOL-43 has a built-in rechargeable battery charged by its solar panel, a flashing light, and a 433 MHz radio for sensors and remotes. Its listing says it can work as an alarm host on its own or as a siren for a wireless panel.
- Door and motion sensors in the house, so a break-in through a window or roof is also caught.
- A gate lock that does not need keys to be left with anyone. A fingerprint padlock lets the caretaker or gardener in on visiting days, and you can remove their finger later.

We assumed a farmhouse on about an acre, with one house, a separate tube-well room or shed, two boundary runs to protect, mains power with cuts, mobile network coverage and no full-time staff.

A SIM card with a recharge, cable and brackets for the beams, and an electrician are extra. Each beam pair needs power at both ends.
What about 4G solar cameras?
A 4G solar camera has its own SIM card, solar panel and battery, so it needs no Wi-Fi and no power cable. It is the right camera for a farm gate or a field far from the house. These are the models we list. All three are out of stock right now, so check availability before planning around them.
| Model | What the listing says | Stock |
|---|---|---|
| Realtime C9 eco solar 4G PTZ camera | 4G, solar powered, built-in 18500mAh battery, PIR with human detection, two-way audio, SD card up to 256GB | Out of stock, check availability |
| Realtime C9 Eco Plus solar 4G/5G PTZ camera | Solar, 4G/5G, for outdoor use | Out of stock, check availability |
| Trueview 3MP 4G mini pan-tilt camera | 3MP, 4G, pan-tilt | Out of stock, check availability |
Until they are back, the alarm above does the important job: it tells you something is wrong. If the farmhouse has broadband or a 4G Wi-Fi router, the CP-V48A Wi-Fi cameras in the list work today. Read our CCTV camera price guide for more options.
How should the system be set up for an empty farmhouse?
- Save three or more numbers in the panel: yours, a family member's and a neighbour or the nearest caretaker who can reach the site quickly.
- Keep the SIM recharged. An expired SIM is the most common reason a farm alarm stays silent. Set a reminder.
- Mount beams away from crops and trees. Growing plants and swaying branches break the beam. The triple beam needs all beams blocked, which helps with birds and leaves, but keep the line clear.
- Put the panel inside the house, out of sight from windows, so it is not the first thing an intruder sees and smashes.
- Use the separate solar siren kit for outbuildings. A shed or tube-well room with a motor and cables is a common target. The kit's own siren sounds there, without wiring to the house.
- Test it every visit. Walk through a beam and open a door to confirm the call comes through.
Optional upgrades
- Lights or pump from your phone: the TYP-12 Tuya Wi-Fi relay (₹1,499) switches a 12V device from the Smart Life app or a 433 MHz remote. See our Wi-Fi relay and GSM gate opener guide for pumps and gates.
- Standalone beam with its own siren: if you do not want a panel at all, the Combo-CN100 dual beam kit (₹5,499) includes a 100 m dual beam, timer board, 12V siren, remote receiver, 2 remotes and power supply. It sounds a siren but does not call you.
- Solar strobe with motion detection: the PIM-SOL solar strobe light alarm (₹2,499) has a motion detector, remote control and several day and night modes, for a barn or cattle shed.

FAQ
How can I secure a farmhouse with no one living there?
Use an alarm that calls your phone over GSM, with infrared beams on the boundary, door and motion sensors in the house and solar sirens outside. Our list for a one-acre farmhouse costs ₹24,946, including a fingerprint padlock for the gate.
Do I need Wi-Fi for a farmhouse alarm?
No. The ACJ-400 works on a GSM SIM card as well as Wi-Fi, so it can call and message you from a farm with only mobile signal.
Will a solar siren work during a power cut?
Yes. The SRSOL-43 has a built-in rechargeable battery charged by its own solar panel, and it connects to sensors by 433 MHz radio, so it needs no mains wiring.
Are 4G solar cameras available?
We list the Realtime C9 eco, C9 Eco Plus and a Trueview 4G mini camera, but all three are out of stock at the time of writing. Check availability on the product pages or ask us on WhatsApp.
Can beam sensors work in fields with crops and trees?
Yes, if the beam line is kept clear. Mount beams on the boundary wall, away from growing crops and branches, and use a triple-beam model to reduce false alarms from birds and leaves.
Can I give the caretaker access without leaving a key?
Yes. The FPAL-2K fingerprint padlock stores up to 50 fingers and works with an app, so you can add the caretaker's finger and remove it later.
