How to Program the RFMT-22 Smart Card Lock: Passwords, Cards and Remotes

Short answer: you program the RFMT-22 with its infrared remote. Point the remote at the lock and press * 9999 # to enter programming mode (9999 is the factory programming password). From there, every setting is a short code ending in #: 92 changes the door password, 80 sets the master card, 1 adds cards, 5 deletes one card and 90 deletes all cards. Change both factory passwords (9999 and 8888) on the day you fit the lock.

This guide covers every step from the RFMT-22 smart card motorised rim lock manual, in plain language. You can also download the 6-page RFMT-22 manual (PDF) and keep it near the gate.

Before you start

  • The lock must be wired and powered from a 12 V DC supply.
  • Stand within 3 m of the lock and point the infrared remote at the lock's window.
  • Below, PW means your 4-digit programming password. From the factory it is 9999.

What the beeps and lights mean

Signal Meaning
Rising three-note chime Accepted. The step worked.
"Di tin tin" Error. Start the steps again.
Light blinks twice a second Programming mode is on.
Light blinks once every 2 seconds Normal use.

How do I enter and leave programming mode?

  1. Press *, your programming password, then #. Example: * 9999 #.
  2. The light starts blinking twice a second.
  3. To leave, press *. The lock also leaves programming mode by itself after 10 seconds with no key pressed.

How do I change the RFMT-22 passwords?

There are two passwords. The programming password (factory 9999) protects the settings. The door password (factory 8888) opens the door.

  • Change the programming password: * old password # 0 # new 4 digits # new 4 digits again #
  • Change the door password: * PW # 92 # new 4 digits #. Only one door password is active at a time.
  • Open the door with the password: # door password #. No programming mode needed.

How do I set the master card?

Press * PW # 80 #. After the chime, hold the card you want as master near the lock. There is only one master card; setting a new one replaces the old one. Keep it somewhere safe, because it can add and delete cards without the remote.

How do I add cards to the RFMT-22?

With the master card (fastest):

  1. Show the master card once. The yellow light flashes.
  2. Show each new card.
  3. Show the master card again to finish.

With the remote: press * PW # 1 #. After "di di", hold each card to the lock; three beeps mean it is saved. Showing a card that is already saved ends the session. The lock stores up to 1,000 cards.

The RFMT-22 reads 125 kHz ID (EM) cards and key tags. 13.56 MHz Mifare cards will not work. See 125 kHz vs Mifare cards before buying spares.

How do I delete a lost card?

  • One card, by its number: * PW # 5 # 6-digit card number #. Use the six digits after the comma printed on the card. A card marked "00,326074" is 326074.
  • One card you still have, with the master card: show the master card twice within 3 seconds (the red light flashes), show the card to remove, then show the master card again.
  • All user cards: * PW # 90 # 90 #. The chime sounds after about 3 seconds. The master card is kept.

How do I add a wireless remote?

Wireless remotes need the optional wireless receiver module fitted inside the lock. With it, the lock takes up to 20 remotes, numbered 01 to 20, with a range of up to 50 m.

  1. Press * PW # 3 #.
  2. After "di di", press A on the new remote.
  3. After the next "di di", enter its number (01 to 20) and press #.

To remove a remote: * PW # 6 # remote number #. On a paired remote, A opens the lock, B arms the alarm, C disarms and opens, and D locks.

How do I turn the alarms on or off?

Code Setting
* PW # 85 # / * PW # 86 # Forced-open alarm on / off
* PW # 95 # Alarm when the door fails to lock
* PW # 96 # Alarm when the door is not locked in time
* PW # 75 # / * PW # 76 # Key-only mode on / off (cards and remotes cannot open while it is on)

The ALARM terminal can also drive an external siren: its positive goes to ALARM and its negative to GND.

Forgot the programming password? Reset the RFMT-22

  1. With the lock powered, short the two pins marked RESET on the board.
  2. When the lock beeps, hold a key on the remote for 2 seconds.
  3. Three beeps mean it is done.

The passwords return to 9999 and 8888. Saved cards and remotes keep working, so you do not have to enrol everyone again.
