Video Door Phone for a Villa or Multi-Floor House: Extra Monitors and Outdoor Units
Short answer: for a three or four-floor house where every floor must answer the gate, budget about ₹8,600 for an audio door phone with four handsets and an electronic gate lock, and about ₹17,200 to ₹23,700 for a video system with a gate lock. The video figure is either a Wi-Fi Hawkvision system that can grow to 8 monitors, or a Secureye set with four 7-inch monitors and a 4-button outdoor station, each with our lock kit. First decide: one family or one family per floor?
This single question decides which system you buy.
- One family per floor (builder floor, joint family with separate kitchens, house with a tenant upstairs). Each floor needs its own bell button at the gate, so a visitor for the second floor does not disturb the ground floor. You want a multi-button outdoor station with one monitor or handset per button.
- One family across all floors. You want the bell to reach whichever floor you are on, and ideally to pass the call between floors. You want a system that supports several indoor monitors and call transfer, with room to add a second outdoor unit at the main door later.
What you need and why
- Outdoor station at the gate. Camera (or speaker only, for audio), microphone and call button. For separate families, one button per floor.
- Indoor monitor or handset on each floor. This is where you see or hear the visitor and press unlock.
- Electronic gate lock and lock power supply. A door phone only sends the open signal; the lock does the work. Our RML-8K rim lock runs on 12 V DC, and its listing shows the PSRM-01 supply has a dedicated terminal for the lock output of a video door phone. The PSRM-01 listing says it works with all types of audio and video door phones.
- Remotes. Useful for family members arriving by car or scooter, so they do not have to stop and use a key.
- Cable and an electrician. Not included in any kit. Run the cable in conduit from the gate to each floor, away from mains wiring, and follow the cable type in the product manual.

The box holds one indoor monitor and one outdoor camera. Extra Hawkvision monitors and outdoor units are not listed separately on our store yet, so WhatsApp us for price and availability before you plan more than one screen. Planning tips that save rework
- Fix the gate unit at face height and under a small hood or canopy, even if the listing states it is weatherproof.
- Put each indoor monitor where people actually sit: the living area, not a corridor.
- Lay conduit to every floor during construction or painting, even for floors you will connect later.
- Mount the lock power supply indoors on a dry wall. The RML-8K listing notes water and physical damage to the supply are not covered by warranty.
- Press the unlock button briefly. The same listing explains that holding it down overheats the lock coil.

Yes, if the model supports it. The Hawkvision HV-IPK-VL802 lists up to 8 indoor monitors and the HV-AD-VL-730 up to 4. Check the product page for the limit before you plan.
How do separate families in one building use one gate camera?
Use a multi-button outdoor station such as the Secureye S-C40P, where each button calls its own monitor. Each floor then answers only its own visitors.
Can every floor open the gate lock?
Yes. A monitor or handset with an unlock button sends its signal to the lock power supply, and the remotes in our lock kit also work from any floor within their range.
