CCL vs Diplomat EPABX: Which Intercom System Should You Buy?
Short answer: for up to 4 phones, CCL and Diplomat cost the same on our store: the CCL 104B and the Diplomat DP-104 are both ₹2,374 for 1 outside line and 4 extensions, and the Diplomat kits with phones are a little cheaper. Diplomat also gives you the simplest options for 2 phones (lift-and-talk, ₹1,495) and 4 phones with no landline (₹2,374). Once you need 5 or more phones, or 2 or more outside lines, the choice is CCL, with models from ₹2,700 (1 line, 5 extensions) up to ₹34,500 (8 lines, 48 extensions). All prices include GST and delivery is free across India.
What is the difference between CCL and Diplomat?
Both make small telephone exchanges (EPABX) and intercoms that use ordinary analogue phones and 2-core telephone cable. The real difference on our shelves is the range:
- Diplomat models we stock stop at 4 phones: the DP-002 lift-and-talk (2 phones), the DP-004 intercom (4 phones, internal only) and the DP-104 EPABX (1 line, 4 extensions).
- CCL models start at 4 extensions and go all the way to 48, with 1, 2, 3, 4 or 8 outside lines, plus internal-only PAX systems for 18 to 80 phones.
So the question "CCL or Diplomat?" really only applies to a home, clinic or small shop with 2 to 4 phones. Above that, you are choosing between CCL models.
Head to head: CCL 104B vs Diplomat DP-104
| Point | CCL 104B | Diplomat DP-104 |
|---|---|---|
| Outside lines | 1 | 1 |
| Extensions | 4 | 4 |
| Works with no landline (intercom only) | Yes | Yes |
| Phones | Any standard analogue phone, tone or pulse | Any normal analogue phone, plain or caller ID |
| Features named in our listings | Call transfer, hold, call pickup, day and night mode (combo listings); call forwarding, conference, call routing (unit listing) | Plug and play, easy programming |
| Battery backup | Not confirmed in the listing | Not confirmed in the listing |

On paper they do the same job. The CCL listings name more call features, so choose the 104B if you want call transfer, call pickup or day and night mode. Choose the DP-104 if you simply want the lowest price for a ready kit with phones. If you might add a fifth phone later, skip both and go to a CCL 105B or 108B (see below).
Same phones, both brands: kit prices

The Diplomat kit is ₹47 to ₹627 cheaper depending on the bundle. For every CCL 104B combo, including the caller ID ones, see the CCL 104B price with phones guide.
Where Diplomat is the clear pick
Two phones, no dialling: DP-002
The Diplomat DP-002 (₹1,495) joins exactly two phones. Lift one handset and the other rings, with no number to dial. It is made for boss to secretary, shop to godown or ground floor to first floor. It needs two basic non caller ID phones and takes no landline. The ready kit Combo-CN29 with 2 Beetel C11 phones is ₹2,754. CCL has nothing this simple in our range.
Four phones, internal calls only: DP-004
The Diplomat DP-004 (₹2,374) lets up to 4 phones call each other, with no outside line. Kits: Combo-CN43 with 4 Beetel C11 (₹4,793), Combo-CN142 with 4 Beetel B25 (₹5,225) and Combo-CN62 with 4 Beetel C51 (₹6,251). Note that at today's prices the DP-104 kit with 4 C11 phones (₹4,679) costs less than the DP-004 kit and also takes a landline, so the DP-104 is usually the better buy.
Where only CCL will do
Need more than 4 phones, more than 1 outside line, caller ID passed to extensions, a welcome message or battery backup? That is CCL territory. Here is the CCL EPABX range we stock, by lines and extensions:

Features worth knowing, from our CCL listings
- Caller ID: the 108B, 206B, 308B, 312B, 216B and 232B read caller ID on the outside line in DTMF or FSK and pass it on to the extensions, so a caller ID phone like the Beetel C51 (₹999) shows the number.
- Welcome message: the CCL 108 has a 10 second welcome, 5 second busy and 5 second no-answer message. The 216B and 232B list the same timings.
- Battery backup: the 308S and 848S take a 24 V backup from 2 x 12 V 7 Ah maintenance-free batteries. The 108B, 216B and 232B list junction access during power failure.
- Door phone: the 206B takes 1 door phone on an extension port (no door lock). The 308B supports a door lock. The 308S can open lock 1 or lock 2 while you talk on the door phone.
- Cable length: the 312B, 216B and 232B list a maximum extension run of 400 m with 0.5 mm copper cable.

How to choose in three steps
- Count outside lines that are busy at the same time. One landline or one SIM: a 1-line model. Two people often on outside calls together: a 2xx model. Three: a 3xx model.
- Count phones, then add spares. Leave at least 2 extensions free for a new cabin, the gate or a cordless phone.
- Decide on extras. Caller ID, welcome message, battery backup or door phone narrow the list quickly using the feature notes above.
Typical matches: home with 3 or 4 rooms, CCL 104B or DP-104. Clinic or shop with 5 to 8 phones, CCL 105B or 108B. Office with 2 lines and up to 16 desks, CCL 216B. Hotel or school, CCL 224, 232B or 432 (see hotel room intercom).
No landline? Use a SIM
Either brand works as a pure intercom with no line. To make outside calls on a CCL or Diplomat EPABX without a landline, add the CCL FCT-GSM-DU single SIM gateway (₹3,299), which turns a mobile SIM into a normal telephone line for a CO port. More in using a SIM card with an EPABX.
Wiring is the same for both
Run one 2-core telephone cable from each phone back to the unit and fit a rosette at each phone. A 90 m roll of TW-2P telephone wire costs ₹1,799. Keep the cable away from mains wiring. Full details in how an EPABX is wired.

Frequently asked questions
Is CCL or Diplomat EPABX better?
For 4 phones they cost the same as units (₹2,374) and do the same basic job; the CCL listings name more call features and the Diplomat kits are slightly cheaper. For more than 4 phones or more than 1 line, only CCL models are available on our store.
What is the price of a 4 line intercom system?
The CCL 104B, Diplomat DP-104 and Diplomat DP-004 units are ₹2,374 each. Kits with 4 Beetel C11 phones cost ₹4,679 (Diplomat DP-104), ₹4,793 (Diplomat DP-004) and ₹5,034 (CCL 104B).
Can I connect a landline to the Diplomat 004?
No. The DP-004 is internal only. For a landline on every phone, choose the Diplomat DP-104 or CCL 104B.
Which CCL EPABX has battery backup?
The CCL 308S and 848S list 24 V battery backup using 2 x 12 V 7 Ah maintenance-free batteries. Do not connect a battery to a model whose manual has no battery input.
Do CCL and Diplomat need special phones?
No. Both take standard analogue phones such as the Beetel C11 (₹599) or the caller ID Beetel C51 (₹999). The Diplomat DP-002 lift-and-talk needs non caller ID phones.
Which EPABX should I buy for 2 lines and 8 phones?
We do not stock a 2 line, 8 extension model, so look at the CCL 308B (3 lines, 8 extensions, ₹4,900) or the CCL 216B (2 lines, 16 extensions, ₹7,500) if you expect to grow.
